[STU Membership] When we began e-tailing nearly 5 years ago we carried with us our beliefs from many years in retail that the key ingredients to a successful retail operation are fast friendly service, 100% satisfaction guaranteed merchandise, and reasonable pricing. In our opinion reasonable pricing is attained through running a more efficient operation than your competitors, and passing on the savings from that efficiency to our customers in the form of lower prices. For decades in the retail industry, manufacturers have "Suggested" a retail price, and many retailers price at that price. There have always been retailers out there that sell below the Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price and it is an accepted practice. In e-tailing, we soon discovered that Manufacturers have been under a lot of pressure from "brick and mortar" retailers and some licensors not to sell to etailers, or to force them to price at levels they are comfortable with. In spite of that we are comitted to our retailing belief system. We have however, been forced to take our beliefs "underground". The prices we display on the open air waves of the internet are competitive, but we can do better. The problem is that to price more competitively would surely cause conflicts with some of our manufacturers because of the pressure other retailers and some licensors would put on them. This is where membership comes in to play. As a STU Member we are able to sell to you at prices we cannot display to the general public. Membership is the equivelant of the "STU Underground". We do not charge a membership fee, but since we are not interested in revealing Member pricing to our competitors, manufacturers or licensors, we ask that you sign up for our newsletter, and complete one order at our published prices before we reveal member pricing to you. Once you've signed up for our newsletter and complete your first order at our published prices we will assign your tier level (member pricing) within 24 hours.
